Baltic

I love how Atlantic Pacific layers pearl necklaces and buttondowns with blazers. This is my low-rent imitation.

Velvet blazer, Cami. Shirt, American Eagle (thrifted). Dress, Richard Chai for Target. Necklaces, Kenneth Cole Reaction, thrifted, and vintage. Tights, We Love Colors. Booties, Style & Co.

Closet Circulation - Red Velvet Mandarin

I’m not sure why there was an entire week between this entry and the last, in October 2007. Back then, no one read my blog and no one noticed when I missed a few days. Now, I usually get a concerned email when my blog goes silent.

In

Velvet jacket, Cami - I have a few velvet blazers. (Is four too many?)
Top, Moda International - I can only identify this blouse from the descriptors I used in the original post. It is the same top that I wore in Knockout.
Pinstriped pants, Forever 21 - This is the only pair of pants I still regularly wear.

Hold

Faux pearl necklace, JC Penny – this is the same necklace I wore earlier in the month. It’s in my deconstruction pile.
Earrings, Liz Claiborne – yet another pair of earrings I no longer wear but continue to retain.

I could repeat this exact outfit, too, but, again, I’ll just repeat the blazer.

All Wet

I’m inordinately proud of myself. This marks two days in a row of public self-portraits. Just me, the tripod, and curious onlookers.

Dress, Banana Republic (thrifted). Belt, thrifted. Tights, Hue. Shoes, American Eagle for Payless. Earrings, Ali’s Boutique. Coat, Lilli Allen (vintage*). Bag, Franco Sarto.

Not only did I endure a man photographing me photographing myself (a meta-picture?), but I got pretty wet running from the car to this amphitheater** in the rain. I got much wetter running back to the car, but pictures were completed, so who cares?

Because I usually ride the bus, I’m obsessive about checking the weather report and almost never leave the house unprepared for whatever the atmosphere might throw my way. This week, though, I rented a car for two days (to attend some work training) and somehow thought this would make me impervious to rain and cold. Not so. I’m just glad I remembered a coat!

*I scored this vintage coat from The Drama Workshop’s costume shop. Come to our sale on Saturday and look for your own vintage treasure!

Another TDW Vintage Sale

The best place to find top quality vintage: a theater’s costume closet. The Drama Workshop has an enormous collection of vintage in its costume stores. The collection is a bit too enormous for our new home in the Glenmore Bowl. We’ll be offering menswear, outerwear, shoes, and ladies wear for sale this Saturday, 10/22, from 11 – 3. (Just in time for Halloween!)

The sale will be located at our warehouse in Northside: 4015 Cherry Street. Cash and checks are accepted.

Last July, we held a similar sale (just ladies wear, though). The goods were priced very low and went quickly. Come early and then head over to The City Flea in the American Can Lofts!

Here are some of my scores from TDW’s costume closet:

80's dress that looks like a 30's dress, the dog skirt that Beefy hates, and my favorite coat ever.

See you there! (And, of course, I’ll be signing autographs all day. Natch.)

Drama Queen

I’m feeling terribly dramatic in this long and loud skirt. I suppose things didn’t get any quieter with the addition of more pattern, tassels, and studs.

Skirt, Hauber Sporting Life (thrifted). Sweater, New York & Co (thrifted). Shoes, Isaac Mizrahi for Target. Belt, Buckle. Earrings, vintage. Bag, Express. Coat, Bebe. Scarf, Walgreen’s.

Old Fashioned

Beefy doesn’t like this dress. I pressed him for a reason. He says it’s too “old fashioned.” That’s exactly why I like it!

Dress, vintage, thrifted, and shortened. Vest, thrifted. Boots, Miz Mooz. Earrings, Julie’s Inspiration.

In keeping with the vintage vibe, I paired the dress with a second-hand vest and old-timey boots.

Another flashback: the first time I wore this dress (compared with today).

Travel Song

“Sing a song, yes a travel song, when you gotta go somewhere.”

Well, Beefy and I had many places to go, so we sang along to Sirius XM On Broadway as we drove around Cincinnati. Sadly, the station did not play Travel Song from Shrek: The Musical. But we heard, and sang along with, plenty of other favorites.

Jacket, Dex (swap). Shirt, Mossimo (thrift). Skirt and bag, Mossimo (not thrift). Boots, Vince Camuto. Sunglasses, Xhilaration. Scarf, some department store. Necklace, Target. Brooches, swap, vintage, and self-made.
