June Purchases

June was a crazy busy month: happy hour, Salsa on the Square, The Little Black Dress Event, Tri-State Antique Market, vacation in Atlanta, two weddings, Charlaine Harris, and Red, Pink, and Blue.

I usually find that I spend a bit more in months with a lot of special events. My two largest purchases, this month, were shoes for The LBD Event and a necklace I bought at Red, Pink, and Blue.

Macy’s

1. Nine West floral peep-toe pumps, $55.30

I’ve had so much fun mixing patterns with my floral Miss Me shoes, that I started searching for a second pair of flowered heels. This Nine West pair is fairly comfortable and was on clearance!

2. Style & Co earrings, $12
3. Style & Co beaded necklace, $16.80 (not yet photographed)

I shopped Macy’s for a pair of turquoise-colored earrings to complete my Red, Pink, and Blue outfit. I couldn’t resist the necklace I found next to them.

Tri-State Antique Market

I organized a group trip to the monthly Tri-State Antique Market. As I was making introductions, I realized that the group was dominated by style bloggers (me, Tamia, Goose, and Londyn). I promised to take them to my favorite, top-secret, $1 jewelry stall. After much sweaty slogging through the heat, I didn’t find my usual vendor, but another operator had boxes of $1 jewelry for us to paw through. We tore it up.

4. White beaded necklace, $1
5. Silver Indian pendant, $1
6. Moscow pin, $1
7. Red-orange beaded necklace, $15

Serket Jewelry

8. Turquoise stone necklace, $40

I’m the sort of person that rarely carries cash, but I made a withdrawal before Red, Pink, and Blue, anticipating a cash-only bar and Serket Jewelry’s booth.

June total: $142.10

In July, I’m looking for a pair of bright jeans (or pants). Urban Outfitters has some options (by BDG) and free shipping this weekend. I may also pick up a few of the Calypso St. Barth for Target pieces that are now on clearance.

Total spending for the year: $693.98

Wings

This is the perfect place to wear wings: perched high above the city on a clear morning. I don't intend to jump, though.

I’m a total color addict. I wear it, I dye it, I paint it, I plant it. If only cats came in Technicolor.

Turquoise Tangle

I’ve become totally tangled in turquoise jewelry. It doesn’t need to be actual turquoise stone, just that dreamy sky-blue color.

Blazer, Forever 21 (swap). Tank, Halogen. Skirt, Thailand. Necklace, Serket Jewelry. Shoes, Two Lips. Bag, H&M. Sunglasses, Betsey Johnson.

I love how the blue shade pairs with coral, olive, and true red.

Pink

Last year, I wore a blue dress to Red, Pink, and Blue. This year, I wore (barely) pink. I’ll have to find a red dress for next year.

Fancy Pants

Last summer, I wore shorts only twice. And, although I wore them rarely, I discovered that I liked them much more when paired something fancier than a tshirt. This summer, I’m experimenting with more non-tee options, like this lace blouse.

Blouse, H&M (swap). Cami, Deep Los Angeles. Shorts, Old Navy. Earrings, Monica D. Shoes, Aerosoles.

This blouse is so fancy, that it buttons up the back. I have plenty of clothing that requires assistance to don, but I outsmarted this garment. I button all but the top three and bottom two buttons and then pull it on over my head. I can fasten the remaining buttons by reaching behind my neck and back. Fancy, huh?

Easy Breezy

It’s been delightfully breezy lately. Well, perhaps it isn’t as delightful when the breezes send us a thunderstorm, but I enjoy the cool winds that precede the rain.

Dress, swap. Belt, H&M. Scarf, Claire’s. Bracelets, vintage, Garden of the Gods gift shop, and Claire’s. Shoes, Mossimo.

Told You So

I’m a member of trivia team Unflappable Wong, but I don’t contribute much. It seems like most of the questions are about history, sports, tv, movies, or music and I’m not much help with those* subjects. When I do have an idea, I have little conviction; my tentatively offered suggestion is overruled. Every once in a while, though, it turns out that I was right, and then I get to say, “I told you so.”

Jacket, Dex (swap). Dress, Richard Chai for Target (borrowed). Boots, Dan Post. Brooches, self-made, vintage, and swapped. Necklace, vintage.

Why is it that “I told you so” is sometimes more satisfying than being listened to in the first place?

*If only there were more questions about nature, science, business, or fashion. I could pull my weight.
