New Year Old Dress

It may be a new year, but I’m still wearing this fugly old dress.

Stuffing

After Thanksgiving dinner, I quizzed Beefy on his favorite dishes. We both agreed that the seasoned cashews were the best appetizer and the derby pie was the best dessert. But we disagreed on dinner dishes. He preferred the sweet potatoes and I the stuffing.

You're My Inspiration

I’m often asked where I get my inspiration. Two of my biggest sources of ideas are other outfit bloggers and magazines. I hope it doesn’t sound too pompous to share that I also find inspiration from my own, past outfits. Today’s outfit was inspired by one I wore last July. I’m wearing the same vest and same belt over a different jersey dress.

Sometimes, when I’m stuck for outfit ideas, I’ll look at what I was wearing a year (or two or three) ago. It isn’t always inspiring, but usually entertaining. Here’s what I was wearing on this date in 2009, 2008, and 2007.


I also find it interesting to reflect on my incredible closet rotation. I no longer have the vest or shoes in the second picture or the skirt or shirt in the third picture. And when that third picture was taken (2007), I didn't own anything that I'm wearing today.

Rosy

I’ve never paired this dress with color, so I thought I’d be “daring” today. I received a number of compliments.

I’m not looking down because I’m demure, but because it’s so bright outside I can’t bear to look up!

Green Bubble Dress

I’m starting to get a little bored with this photo documentation project. Maybe it’s because I am becoming tired of my clothes. So, I’m trying to spice things up a little with fun poses.

I last wore this dress (with these shoes and these beads) on March 21.

Faded

I look and feel faded. I’m dressed in soft colors. My hair color appears muted. (I’m in desperate need of a touch-up.) I am trying, unsuccessfully, to clear the cobwebs from my mind. I’m drifting through the day like a wispy, dreamy cloud. Wake me when it’s over.

My sister gave me this necklace. I rarely wear it lately, because I favor bigger jewelry. By layering it with my faux pearls, though, I’m able to highlight the pendant’s delicate charm, while still filling up all the blank space between my neck and décolletage.

Don’t mind my beet red chest. That’s the only part of me that isn’t faded, today.

Duplex Dress

I love the cut of the bottom of this dress, but the top is an ugly tank style, so I always pair it with a sweater or jacket. (I’d be too cold in the office with bare arms anyway.) I adore the skirt and always get compliments on its swingy style. It even has saddle bags, see?


I have to buy a pair of nude dress shoes every spring. They are my favorite shoe to wear with skirts and dresses because they make the leg line look long. I’ll wear them almost daily until October and then they will be (mercifully) retired. I think this year’s pair is especially cute with the fun buckle on the toe.
