Rough and Tumble

Everyone, meet my new boots. They are tall, rugged, and studly. Just like me.

Sweater, The Limited. Skirt, vintage, thrifted, shortened, and embellished. Boots, Vince Camuto. Tights (they are mustard yellow), Hue. Bag, Mossimo. Bangles, thrifted, vintage, and Garden of the Gods gift shop.

No, really, I am a rough and tumble sort of girl. But I'll admit that the "tall" descriptor doesn't apply. I'm of totally average height. That's why my boots need at least a couple of inches of heel.

Shoulda

So….I definitely should have worn tights today. It was much cooler and breezier than I expected.

I did have the good sense to don pettipants. Otherwise, I would have displayed my goods to the people of Cincinnati more than once this afternoon. I was also fortunate to have left my leather jacket at work yesterday. It blocks the cold wind like a champ.

Jacket, Laundry by Shelli Segal. Vest, Urban Vibe. Dress, Tucker for Target. Bracelets, Claire's and vintage. Sunglasses, Xhilaration. Shoes, American Eagle for Payless.

Yeah...I didn't want to take the jacket off.

Tell Me On a Friday

I sometimes feel like I’m the only one working on Friday afternoon. My office is deserted and email slows to a trickle. This week, perhaps it was for the best that I saw almost no one at work on Friday. I’m not sure that what I was wearing was entirely appropriate.

Japanese “cardigan,” thrifted. Blouse, LS2 (thrifted). Skirt, No Boundaries (thrifted). Tights, We Love Colors. Shoes, BCBGeneration. Bag, D&G knockoff (thrifted). Earrings, vintage. Belt, thrifted. Coat (below), Lilli Ann.

Boomerang

I keep trying to get rid of this skirt, but it returns again and again. I attempted to give it away, twice, on the blog. The first time, I just never followed through. The second time, I selected a winner at random, but she didn't contact me to claim it. Then, I successfully ditched the skirt at a clothing swap. To my surprise, it went home with Londyn.

Over a year later, I started to miss the skirt. It kept appearing in my dream outfits. I asked Londyn if I could borrow it and she told me I could just have it.

I think the skirt and I are simply meant to be together.

Shirt, Merona (thrifted). Skirt, vintage, thrifted, shortened, and embellished. Shoes, thrifted. Bag, Colini handbags (thrifted). Necklace, thrifted. Earrings, thrifted.

I’ve stopped fighting fate.

P.S. I’m 100% thrifted, today! (Well, the sunglasses were free, not purchased second-hand, but that certainly was thrifty!)

Friday Formula

My workplace does not have a “Casual Friday,” but I sometimes use Friday as an excuse to wear some of my casual pieces to the office. Today, I broke out the cowboy boots and my favorite button-down.

Shirt, Converse One Star (thrifted). Dress, Allison Taylor (thrifted). Belt, thrifted. Boots, Dan Post. Bracelets, Target, thrifted, vintage, and swap. Earrings, Pangaea. Bag, H&M.

Fridays are my chance to perk up my business casual wardrobe with weekend wear, like a military-esque jacket, a casual dress, a knit vest, (and the afore-mentioned cowboy boots).

Then, there is the Casual Friday staple: denim, denim, denim. I’ve worn that casual fabric to work in the form of vests, jeans, a skirt, and, of course, a jacket.

My usual recipe is regular business wear + one casual piece….but I sometimes add a few more casual elements.

What do you wear to work on Casual Friday?
