Schoolboy

This outfit started as an attempt to try two trends: denim on denim and the shorts suit. I had planned to wear my new Lela Rose for Payless wedges, but it rained overnight and I anticipated mud at the antique fair. Instead, I added knee socks and wellies to complete the outfit and ended up with an entirely unexpected look: English Schoolboy. Blimey!

Blazer, Focus 2000 (thrifted). Blouse and socks, Forever 21. Shorts, New York & Co. Galoshes, TJ Maxx. Bag, Nine West.

Home Office

I opted not to brave the snow or bone-chilling cold today and, instead, worked from home. I might have never changed out of my pyjamas if Beefy and I didn’t have plans to run a few errands this evening.

Gray sweater, Joli Tricot. Red sweater, Bloch. Button-down, American Eagle (thrifted). Tank, Wet Seal. Jeggings, Mossimo. Boots, Capelli. Necklace, VCLM.

Good Luck Charm

Trivia is fun, but the rest of my team is male and they tend to talk boring sports during the downtime. I usually cope with a stack of magazines. Tonight, I did better than cope when my friend Colette joined us. She must be a good luck charm because we pulled off a victory with our answer to the final question.

Jacket, American Eagle. Vest, MacGregor (thrifted). Dress, Jovovich Hawk for Target. Tights, We Love Colors. Galoshes, TJ Maxx. Hat, Charlotte Russe. Bracelets, vintage.

Yes, she stole my hat for our picture together. I knew she’d like it.

Not Too Cold

It snowed here in Cinci. It’s nothing like the east coast’s dump, but has prettified the landscape nonetheless. Despite the snow coating, it isn’t too cold for miniskirts. (At least, not when paired with sweater-like tights.)

Cardi, I Heart Ronson. Sweater, Body Central. Turtleneck, Cherokee. Skirt, London Jean. Tights, Macy’s. Boots, TJ Maxx. Scarf, Images (gift). Hat, Stray Dog.

In fact, this outfit was so appropriate for the conditions that I slept in it and wore it the next day, too.

Renaissance

I spent a cool, but sunny, day at the Ohio Renaissance Festival. I’m afraid I let my pursuit of mead and giant turkey legs interfere with proper outfit documentation.

Hat, Pangaea. Blazer, American Eagle. Scarf, Target. Skirt, Dex (swap). Socks, Forever 21. Boots, TJ Maxx. Tote, Tommy Hilfiger. Earrings, Claire’s.

You might wonder why I bothered posting at all, since the outfit is nothing spectacular and neither of the photos show it well. The purpose of this entry is actually to show off the magnifying glass necklace I bought at the festival.

What, ho!

Turn Around

This is a break from tights and toes to bring you stiff skirts and galoshes. It is my go-to combination for wet days.

Jacket, Wilson’s. Hooded sweater, Mossimo. Skirt, Chaus Sport (thrifted). Boots, TJ Maxx. Bag (below), Payless.

Yes, this outfit is boring from the front…

…but so much fun in the back.

I turn to this combination in wet weather because:
1) Galoshes are practical in the rain and puddles
2) A skirt eliminates the need to tuck pants into the boots
3) A tough material (like denim or corduroy) resists the gusts of wind that often accompany inclement weather.

More stiff skirts and galoshes:

Soggy 4th

Jacket, Dex (swap). Tank, Express. Skirt, Chaus Sport (thrifted). Galoshes, Capelli. Bells necklace, thrifted. Owl pendant, Trader’s World. Ring, Jan Michaels San Francisco.

Our 4th was cool and wet, so I wore galoshes and jumped in puddles.

This is that skirt with the ruffly butt.

Ridiculous

Cardi and blue/green tank, Mossimo. Gray tank, No Boundaries. Denim Mini, Tyte (thrifted). Leggings, Xhilaration. Sunnies, George ME. Necklace, Pangaea. Studded choker worn as a bracelet, thrifted.

Bear likes wellies.

My weather forecast from weather.com (printed at about 3 p.m. on Friday) predicted a 70% chance of rain today, so I wore my galoshes. Instead, the day was sunny and warm and I looked like a moron trudging around UC and Clifton in my rubber boots.
